Foam Rolling – Piriformis
Sit on top of the roller and place one foot on top of your other knee. Lean over to the side that doesn’t have a foot on the ground so that the body has about a thirty degree lean to it. (Yes there is a foam roller under there in the photo).
Starting from the bone in your bottom (sit bone) gently drop off of the front of the roller and roll the middle of your buttock, the piriformis is located underneath the middle of the buttock (Gluteus Maximus).
In reality you are primarily rolling gluteus maximus when on top of a roller, a ball can be used to zero in on trigger points and better locate the piriformis that lies deeper in the body.
