Qualifications
Advance Performance aim to help anyone of any age or ability to achieve their personal running, triathlon and fitness ambitions – beginner to elite, young or old – through well trained staff who offer a high level of experience and customer service. Rider Secrets, being a subsidiary of Advance Performance, also offer the following services specifically to event & endurance riders.
Running Shoe Prescription
Advance Performance have the team in place to ensure that we are the experts in running shoe prescription, led by Matt Parker. Matt has been prescribing running shoes for more than 12 years. There is very little that Matt doesn’t know about all the different running shoes, technologies and brands available and the effect they have on a runner’s foot. There are no qualifications available to prescribe the correct pair of running shoes, so experience really does matter.
Matt is involved in the design of future running shoes for a leading manufacturer and is also on the design test teams for leading brands. He is very well respected within the industry and also trains each member of staff, who undergo the same training and share the same values.
In addition, all members of our team regularly undertake comprehensive training from our running shoe brands such as Brooks, Nike, adidas, Mizuno, Saucony, KSwiss etc.
Biomechanics and podiatry are an important part of the running shoe prescription process – and all of our team are continually trained to understand much more than the basics of those areas. To back up this knowledge and experience we work closely with our Podiatrist Jenny Hinton BSc Honours Podiatry S.R.Ch. M.Ch.S. , our in-store Sports Therapist, Howard Piccaver BSc (Hons), DipST, MSST, Nutritionist Laura Fox Dip.ION and world-class sports medicine and strength & conditioning experts Core Cambridge.
Dan Coley of Core Cambridge says, “Advance Performance isn’t just a running shop – it’s an athlete support system; They’re continually innovating to help customers derive more joy from their sport.”
Our customers are able to utilise our well-trained and experienced in-store team to look after their requirements on a day-to-day basis. This is generally through the prescription of the correct running shoes, advice about stretching, nutrition, blister prevention, technical clothing etc. We then refer specific issues to the following specialists:
