Foam Rolling- Quadriceps

Foam Rolling Quadriceps (Vastus Lateralis, Vastus Medialis & Rectus Femoris)

Start rolling on the front of the thigh just above the knee, roll up the leg to the top and return to the ‘feedback’ point.

Variations include rolling at a forty five degree angle on the vastus lateralis (the outside ‘corner’ of the quads) or on the vastus medialis (the inside ‘corner’ of the quads).

The IT Band can be rolled but the effectiveness of rolling it is questionable, it may separate the IT band from the underlying Vastus Lateralis (allowing each to work more independently) but it won’t lengthen the IT band as it is a very dense un-stretchable band of tissue.
