As we enter the depths of Winter and the hardest conditions for running and cycling outside, it can be easy to put off the early morning run, turn over and go back to sleep. When a cold wind is blasting, and it’s teaming with rain, even the most hard core of runners can find the lure of the sofa and TV too tempting after a day at work.
However, many of us want keep training for Spring full and half marathons, or just to burn off the post Christmas binge calories. So, any incentive to get out and fulfil our training commitments should be welcomed. That is the great idea behind the Jantastic initiative.
Jantastic is designed solely to encourage everyone to get out and exercise during the winter months. Whether beginner or seasoned amateur athlete you can sign up for free and take part. You can join solo or, if you want, get a group of friends and make a team.
The idea is that you set exercise goals, of running, cycling or swimming, to complete each week from January through March. Each time you complete a session you’ll record it and be awarded points.
