How to measure your own bra size
We would always recommend a professional bra fitting, but it is quite easy to measure yourself, and even easier if you can find a friend to help you do it.
Ideally you should be wearing the best fitting NON padded bra that you have and be standing up straight.
Step One
First of all you need to measure your back size (this is sometimes known as the band size) and is the measurement just underneath the bust. Place the measure just under your bust at the front and making sure the tape measure is flat and straight across your back, most women wear a back size that is too big so the tape must be pulled so that it is really snug around the body, but not tight, pinching or digging in. Now, round this measurement to the nearest full number in inches. If this gives you an even number add 4 inches, if it gives an odd number add 5 inches. Make a note of this number you will need it later.
Step Two
You now need to measure around the fullest part of your bust. Pull the tape until it is taut around your back but not flattening the bust at all. Again make sure the tape straight and level across your back; it is a good idea to try this two or three times to make certain you have measured around the fullest part of your bust. If you are in between inches for this measurement, round to the nearest inch, if in doubt round to the next largest inch, and make a note of this number.
Step Three
You should now have two figures one bigger than the other, subtract the smaller one from the bigger one the result will correspond to your cup size below:
0″=AA cup, 1″=A cup, 2″=B cup, 3″=C cup 4″=D cup,5″= DD cup,6″= E cup, 7″=F cup, 8″=FF cup 9″= G cup.
The figure form the step one forms the number part of your bra size and the result of step three will give you the letter part (cup size.)
Example
Measurement under the bust is 30½ inches rounded up to 31 inches then add 5 inches to total 36 inches.
Measurement around the fullest part of the bust is 37¾ inches rounded up to 38 inches.
Which results in a bra size of 36 B.
