Zone3 in conjunction with the Triathlon Centre @ Advance Performance are sponsoring a triathlete throughout 2017.
Our Zone3 Local Hero for 2017, Kate Southorn, has been into store at Cambridge for her gait analysis and running shoes, had her wetsuit fitting and picked up the wetsuit and kit.
Kate posts on Instagram as she takes her new Zone3 wetsuit out for its first open water swim
At the end of last year like most ‘athletes’ I took sometime to review the year’s performance and set objectives for next year. As last year’s objective was to complete the Blenheim weekend warrior event and stay injury free there were lots of positives achieved.
I completed the Blenheim weekend warrior completing 6 sprint triathlons over the 2 days and I completed my first Olympic triathlon.
In the run up to the start of 2017 I decided that my objective for 2017 would be to complete in sprint Olympics and 70.3 decide which I liked most and focus my training/efforts into that discipline, and target my focus to make the most of events to work towards GB qualification.
So with this in mind I signed up for the Pitsford Sprint Triathlon in May, Dambuster and Love Swimrun in June, Quarter ISOman and Pitsford Standard in July and Weymouth in September. What a lovely spread events.
Training started off well with clear objectives by month to support 2017’s test and learn.
However things change in a few months, Advance Performance and Zone3 give the great news that they’re happy to support me as a local hero for 2017 Peterborough store then followed by the news that I had secured a roll down place for the ETU champs. 2017 just got serious!! My Lovely test and learn season just changed as June is all about Dusseldorf and GB Age group. I feel a little nervous just thinking about it.
This means June’s Dambuster is now just the swim leg as I couldn’t miss the opportunity to swim in my Zone3 Vanquish suit and Love swimrun has been totally dropped, as I will now be in Dusseldorf - eeekkkk!
The change of emphasis is quite daunting and the financial outlay to traveling so having support from Advance Performance and Zone3 has helps support this years change in plans.
We look forward to further updates from Kate as the season progresses.
