Online running resources

Running is one of the most basic and natural forms of exercise that we can take part in, however in this digital, multimedia age there are a plethora of online running resources out there to help you.

Online running resources can offer a lot to the runner.

Websites such as FETCH everyone and Runners World offer a searchable database of race events, training plans, advice, and forums to share running advice.

Apps like Runkeeper, Strava and Map My Run can be a great aid to the runner. Not only can you use these apps to track your running stats but they can be used as a training aid too.

Some people find that sharing their running experiences by blogging online is a great motivator.

For example, if you are a first time marathon runner planning on running for a charity, blog about all the ups and downs online and let your friends know – it can be a great aid to training. It almost goes without saying that social media including the ubiquitous Facebook and Twitter are also good tools for this form of interaction.

But, let’s not forget the good old medium of paper in the form of running and fitness magazines. Most supermarkets carry the major titles in this field so they are easy to come by. Some are dedicated to men, some to women and those that cater to both sexes. However what all have in common is that they are an excellent source of information, ideas and inspiration for runners both experienced and new.
